Land of the Rising Sun

On my first visit to Japan. Landed at Osaka, Kansai International Airport last night, and saw the early rays from the land of the rising sun about 2 hours ago.

Japan is an interesting country. While demographically its currently a land where investors would shy away (yes, owing to the graying of Japan concept), for the past 5 years its new charismatic Prime Minister (well not new any more - his tenure will end in early 2007 I hear) has talked about economic reforms and Japan is slowly embracing many concepts that will enable it to sustain its economic hold in many industries.

Will be here for another 10 days, visiting Kyoto and Tokyo primarily. Will try and blog about my new findings about this land, as soon as my schedule permits some leisure.

August Initiatives

August is a month, I always found very hectic. Let me enumerate.

2001 - Got laid off on July 31st from a Streaming Media company in SanFrancisco/Fremont, and had to scamper/take-initiative for retaining my H1.

2002 - On August 14th clinched an initiative in Retail Management space and was shuttling between Los Angeles, Sunnyvale and Bangalore (came down to Bangalore on Aug 18)

2003 - Moved and relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri on Aug 11th from Fremont/Sunnyvale in California for an Offshore Initiative in the Telecom Value Chain.

2004 - Was in Pune India for an Indian expansion and also toured North India, Delhi, Agra, Mathura, came back to Bangalore for a friends engagement, went back to Pune and then on Aug 15th flew back to Saint Louis.

2005 - Flew to Mumbai/Delhi/Banglaore in India on Aug 29th from San Mateo California, for an initiative in Identity Management and rushed back to US on Sep 6th.

2006 - First visit to Goa for an entire week, start of a development initiative for projects in Airline Industry, in Virgina US, a personal initiative to rush my Mom to hospital for an operation, who was admitted for around 12 days.

Is August generally a month of turbulence, or an agent of change ? Don’t know, can’t say. Hind sight is always 20/20 and in retrospect it looks like the odds of such change driven events all happening in August are high. A topic for an elaborate introspection and debate sometime later in my life.

Speaking on initiatives, there are some which I have plans for starting, within the next 2-3 years, like running in  Bangalore International Marathon.
